Autumn is my favourite time of year and when the knitting needles come out super-charged ready for those gorgeous autumn-winter makes. So, lets get to it. I have picked out a few of my favourite autumn knitting patterns that I would love to try and make for fall – which year, decade I don’t know but one day! Ideally, when I am not drowning in half finish projects!
The little scorpion colorwork Jumper from Ivy and Autumn.

We will start with my favourite pattern that I dug out on Etsy, which is where I found all of these great pumpkin fall autumn patterns. It is from Ivy and Autumn and it is beautiful, even down to how they have photographed it its just stunning. The photography gives off that get ready for the spooky season energy that I know I need this time of year. It’s a lovely colorwork sweater called the little scorpion which you can see clearly featured in the chest color work. I love that it has the level of detail in the colorwork but also the design choices of a mock neck and 3/4 length sleeves are something that I feel have been thought about in regards to how the temperature is temperamental in the autumn season. There is a good balance of difficulty, creativity and uniqueness and I am going order the yarn to make this because I really have fallen in love with this pattern even if it is maybe beyond my skill level!
Chloe Elizabeth’s Pumpkin Cardigan

The second pattern in this list is a pumpkin spice inspired cropped cardigan from Chloe Elizabeth Craft. There is something really organic about how this is designed, down to the use of the natural coconut / or wood buttons. The colors used are perfect for autumn and embody that pumpkin fall vibe.
The pattern uses the West Yorkshire Spinners retreat chunky yarn and I love that even before purchasing the pattern Chloe has given the list of the colors used and the materials you will need.
Colors used are: Quiet, Pure and Tranquil – so you’ll be at peace making this cardigan!
I think the colorwork in this is quite beginner-friendly and I like the small skills that are part of this design that you naturally pick up as a knitter, like making button holes.
Pumpkin Autumn Wreath Design

This one is from Felicity Jane’s patterns on Etsy and I am a wreath person. I always ogle people who have various wreaths for the season and not just at Christmas! I’d have an Easter wreath, a Valentines wreath and well, guess I’ll be making an autumn wreath. I think this is so unique and is a great way to add personality to your home. Its suitable for beginners who know the basics but also gives the opportunity to work with new materials like toy stuffing and rings.
The ultimate autumnal pumpkin tea cosy

Anyone who knows me knows I love tea more than life itself and this pattern is just so quick and so adorable I feel that it is a must make for autumn. Especially if you want an autumn themed project but haven’t started it yet, or are a more casual knitter. I also think you’d be able to turn this into a hat pattern too which gives it versatility and more bang for your buck. It is designed by Can shark seat toffee who have some fun and unique designs. It is worked in DK weight yarn. However, I think the downside is that if you’re browsing you do need to purchase the pattern to know what materials you need.
Perfect Knitted Pumpkin Ornaments

These perfect little pumpkins are a great ornament to add a touch of fall festivities. I like the cable detail which makes them a little different.
it comes from Crossmanknits and uses the drops yarn, which I am personally a fan. I like that various sizes are also given as part of the pattern so you don’t have to try and scale them up or down yourself!
Fallen Leaves Knitted Garland

The final pattern is a small but mighty one and I love that this is a quick knit with impact. It is a lovely autumn leaf garland and its from Elves World. I love the shape they have given the leaves but also the different color variations you can use to be able to create an autumnal garland that reflects the seasons.
