The last few weeks have been a bit of a blur. It has been crazy levels of busy despite having a little bit of time off before I move into my new job! Sadly, it is not solely remote like my previous role but I think going into the office once I have adjusted to the early mornings and long days will be a good change of pace. It has also meant that I have actually gone away and got myself a mode of transport saving myself an additional 1 hour 40 with a 15 min each way commute vs on the bus – woohooo! Its also a more senior role so I am excited to develop my skills. I am also feeling excited by the fact my PhD is going quite swimmingly at the moment and I have managed to get a lot done the last few weeks that will make the transition to an office roll a little less stressful. Speaking of stress, and removing stress from our lives… I recently returned from a few days in Iceland, which was my second time visiting. I was there for the culture festival and marathon which was great to experience. I was meant to run the half marathon but due to a long term issue with my leg, running is off the cards. But we watched the first few people cross the line as it was right outside our hotel window!

We also got to see the volcano going off doing its thing on our way to the airport back home so that was super cool! This trip was more of a city break, we went to a few museums including the Perlan which as an ice cave you can go into, the settlement museum and to my disappointment we didn’t have time to go to the Phallic museum in iceland, the biggest collection in the world lol – my maturity showing. We also went to the Sky Lagoon which I have to say, from my snowy blue lagoon experience 8 years ago, was a lot better. So if you’re in iceland and can’t visit due to the volcanic activity head to the Sky Lagoon. They have a 7 step ritual that you can do, the view of the ocean is amazing and it is an easy and quick bus ride from Reykjavik. The one thing I had forgotten about Iceland is how expensive everything is, in no world should a beer and a coffee cost the equivalent of £20, or two bread bowls of soup and 2 beers £50. Regardless of the financial blow of visiting, it was a great little weekend away.
I recently have got into sewing and trying to learn how to sew. I completed my first dress, which looked great but is A LITTLE big, so I am remaking it at the moment. I have linked the pattern below. I made a blend of C and A – so A without the sleeves and added bias binding to the edging. I am on round two of making this dress which has somehow been more of a challenge, but slowly but surely I will get there!

Knitting wise, I am still plodding through a lot of the same projects. I have been working on my lucky star tank from WATG which I have one sleeve left to do. I made my life a living hell by willingly trying to convert it to a pattern in the round WHICH I have been successful in, but I NOW understand why it is not a pattern in the round haha!
I’ve also been working on my pink cardigan with one front panel and the back complete, I just need to cast on the next from panel. You forget how long it takes to make things when you’ve got to make multiple parts then stitch them all together! I also am still working on my bobble stitch cardigan which has taken a bit of a backseat while I work through my PhD work, but you can watch the few vlogs that have showcase whats been going on so far below.
Knitting tutorial-wise, I have been working on a series of shorts that showcase various knitting basics. There are a few up on my channel now that will help you learn the basics and longer “normal” videos, the playlist is listed below for you 🙂
To add to my crazy busy life, I recently took up spring board/platform diving. I’ve only been going for three weeks but I am really enjoying it, even at my complete novice level. I had great fun going off the 3m platform on repeat this week and looking forward to learning more. Never to old, as they say!
That is all for my big ranty blog but thought I’d been a bit quiet on here so it was time for an update 🙂
See you all soon!
