Winter is well on its way, and if you’re starting to feel the chill there is no better option to stay warm than a cosy soft knitted scarf. This is a great pattern if you’re new to knitting or if you’re just wanting to have a nice and easy knit to make while watching your favourite films over the festive period.

The techniques you will need:
Here is the list of techniques you will need to know, they are all shown within the video but there are video tutorials below if you want to learn how to do them before knitting your scarf.
- How to do a slip knot
- How to cast on using the long tail cast on method
- How to cast off
- How to double rib stitch (2 X 2 Rib)
Materials
You can use any yarn you choose. I chose to knit with one strand of merino, and one strand of mohair for a super fluffy cloud-like finish. I used the take care mohair from WATG and the extra fine merino from Hobbii. I used yarn I had left over from a project but I believe it worked out about 3 of each for the length of the scarf (so about 150g of each). The longer and wider you want the scarf the more yarn you will need.

The pattern directions are as follows to make your own marshmallow scarf:
- Cast on 40 stitches using both yarns together
- Knit 2 stitches, Purl 2 stitches * repeat until end
- Turn your work
- Continue working the pattern, if you finish on 2 purls, your next row will start with 2 knit stitches and continue.
- Repeat until your scarf measures 60 inch or your desired length
- Cast off
