How to do a Knitted Cast On (Knit-On Cast On)

Casting on is the first step in getting to work on a knitted project. In this blog, I am going to show you how to do a knitted cast on. You can watch the tutorial here and down below.

What is a Knitted Cast On?

The Knit-on cast on is a method in which you use two knitting needles and one strand of yarn, unlike a longtail cast on, this only uses yarn that is attached to the skein/ball of yarn, rather than using the tail end too.

Step by Step: Knitted Cast on

Create a slip knot, then insert your left needle. If you are unsure on how to do a slip knot, here is a tutorial on making a slip knot.

For your first stitch, you will start in a similar way to doing a knit stitch, however, you will not slide the stitch off your right needle.

Move the stitch you have created on your right needle onto your left needle.

Repeat for as many stitches as required.
