The new year is upon us and that means it is a great time to start looking at new knitting patterns and projects to make in the year ahead. I have picked three designs I hope to knit in the first three to four months of 2025 and reflect on my learnings as my first year as a knitter. You can watch the video version of this blog here.
Amelia Colour Work Vest
The first on my knitting agenda is the Amelia Colour Work Vest from Hobbii, in partnership with Pom Pom. This vest was something I started towards the end of 2024, but have sadly dragged over into 2025. I have bought yarn to make a blue/green version of this vest as I love it so much. It is made in one piece and features a beautiful slip stitch design.

Amelia Colour Block Vest
Bowret from Sachiko Burgen
This lovely beret design with a bow detail is from Sachiko Burgen. It uses the same yarn as the vest from Hobbii X PomPom. I am going to make this in a variety of colours. What is really lovely about this design is that its offered in a range of sizes within the pattern. It is fun and classic. You can find her on Instagram.

Cat Knit Sweater from Andrea Rangel
Cat Knit Colour Block Sweater
One of my favourite knitting patterns I have ever stumbled across, the cat knit sweater from Andrea Rangel is simply adorable. It has everything I could ever want in a sweater. It is made top down picking up stitches for the neckline and is a really versatile design. I need to go on a yarn hunt for this design. I am thinking possibly a pink and green combo, what do you think?
